Describing Photographs
1. Laundry
The image shows a woman hanging up laundry on racks outside. However, the racks are about 10-15 feet high, so the woman has to use a ladder to get up to the rack. This is because the woman isn't putting laundry on a rack, but a power line the spans miles in one direction. The woman seems to not care about how she's putting her laundry on a power line, as she calmly climbs up the ladder without batting an eye to what she is doing.
The woman looks as if she isn't phased by the strange situation that this picture has presented. It's as if she's been doing this since she was a child, and that putting her laundry on the power line is just part of the daily grind. The woman could, however, simply not be aware of what she is doing, and her putting the laundry on the power line could be her not realizing what's going on.
2. Boat on Glass
In the image, there is a man in a rowboat, heading through a lake. He stumbles upon the edge of the lake, and stands up. One foot out of the boat, one foot in, the man looks at the shore as he sees that the water on the shore are glass panes. It looks like if someone had shattered a mirror, and the mirror is the edge of the lake. The man looks down at the shattered water, with a look of confusion and amazement on his face. The trail of water that was left by the boat also has the appearance of broken glass.
The attention is mainly brought on the shattered water on the shore, as well as the man gazing down at this strange occurrence. He looks as surprised as the viewer, wondering how this anomaly could ever happen.
3. Giant Fish
The image shows an island in the middle of a small pond. On that island, the lies two farmhouse-looking buildings. Nothing but forest on the far left and right sides of the image. But, the island in the middle is not an island at all, but rather the rocky back of a GIANT fish. The pond is actually fairly deep, yet the width is small, so the fish is fairly, for the lack of a better word, smooshed.
The image makes it so you get the impression that you would never notice the fish if you were actually in the scene. This makes me feel as though the creator of this image is trying to tell us a message. Since we wouldn't be able to see the fish above ground, the creator might be saying that not all is what it seems, and that great and impossible things may lie right beneath your noses.
4. Doors with no House
The image shows a man with a bath robe on, holding a cup of coffee. He is walking out of a door that looks as if it belongs on/in a house, with there even being a yellow light being shown out of it. But the door is not attached to anything, as if the rest of the house was invisible from the outside. The right of the image shows a door much like the last one, with there being a homely light coming out of it, even if it's not attached to anything. In the background, there is a flat grassy field with mountains further in the distance. The sky is cloudy, except for the middle, which shows the galaxy.
I believe the creator of this image in trying to convey the message that, what may seem abnormal or unnatural to you may be perfectly reasonable to someone else, as the man in the image doesn't seem phased by the strange doors. It may also symbolize how when one door is closed in life, another one opens.
5. Giant Boots
The picture shows a circular and flat farming field during either duck or dawn. On that dirt field, there is a pair of giant farming boots making a walking gesture on it. In the right boot (our left), there is a person that looks to be a farmer, guiding the two boots by using their shoelaces as a carriage driver would guide their horse.
The image, to me, symbolizes how dreams come true. The person guiding the boots looks like they have overcome something and are now happy that they have done what they set out to do. Accompanied with the sunrise in the background symbolizing regrowth or new life, then this symbolism seems pretty clear.
6. 90 Degree Path
The image shows a dirt path on the edge of a fence in the country side. It seems normal at first, but then both the path and the landscape around it makes a 90 degree drop, which is very unnatural. It soon returns to normal about 10-15 meters (~33-49 feet) deep. At the top of the slope, a man sits with his bicycle behind him. He's looking down the drop, looking puzzled and amazed at this strange occurrence.
this image seems to symbolize how life can come to an unexpected turn at anytime, and that turn my be incredibly difficult to overcome. The 90 degree drop that goes down a significant distance certainly seems difficult to traverse, and the man at the top looking surprised may show how this obstacle came out of nowhere. This shows how life is unexpected and hard, even if you may not see it coming.
7. Man Paints Himself.
In this picture, we see what looks to be a coast of the ocean or a large lake. The coast is rocky and grey like the sky, with where being a dead tree in the distance. On the rock closest to us, a man sits with painting utensils and a canvas, painting the tree and surrounding area. But he also seems to be painting the entire upper half of his body, while his lower body stays normal.
The meaning of this one seems easy to me. It's that, you create yourself however you want, and how you also perceive everything around you in your own way, as the man's painting doesn't have the same setup as what he's painting. So in a sense, he's creating himself and the area how he wants to, and you can do the same thing too.
